I have a sincere request, I am on a family vacation after a long summer of work and unfortunately will miss tomorrow’s voting meeting. Please can you or another board member read my letter below to the board tomorrow night? Carly’s Letter: The environment means so much to my children and my family and all of the dedicated Rye Brook neighbors that are here tonight. Thank you kindly I’m advance. Hi everyone, sorry I couldn’t make the meeting tonight I am away with my family. I am a resident of 20 Eagles Bluff; I moved into this beautiful nature dense neighborhood back in July of 2016. Wow, such a gorgeous natural wetlands here settled into my mind. What we did not realize however was that our back yard that backed up to the gorgeous compact Wetland environment of Rye Brook New York, would impact my life so much: the overwhelming flooding of my patio, children’s play room, backyard and of course then comes with an enormous financial burden. My backyard, my dedicated neighbor’s backyard and our neighbors up the street alike have also experienced extensive water damage, which have been costly. The bottom line to any argument here is that living on top of, next to, behind, diagonal to a wetland environment on the bottom of a steep slope nonetheless, will bring homeowners forever.... serious water damage. This is truly exhausting. 2 There is real truth in the devastation of what the wetlands are capable of doing to the surrounding homes and land that surrounds it. PLEASE REFER TO ARTICLE attached about living next to wetlands; you will have problems for the rest of your life. Another negative impact the 259 N Ridge project would have on our environment woukd be to the ecosystem at large including the wild array of diverse wildlife as well. Building in this area would DRASTICALLY displace eagles, owls, snakes, species of catepillars, butterflies, and insects and possible move them more towards our backyards. I’ve already jumped over snakes and seen tons of the wildlife that I have mentioned – for the good and bad they are there – but we don’t need them living further into our homes and sadly without a home! Please show attached video and photos. Our backyard, patio, and 2nd floor of our home have experienced many years of severe flooding - our land in the back is season round flooded and grassland is always 3 wet. 4 5 Wetlands are a “very serious natural beast of its own” and to roll the dice again and build more homes on an uninhabitable SLOPED WETLAND is quite frankly a mind boggling decision. With the earth’s environmental state being under catastrophic human destruction beyond our repair, it is beyond unfortunate to think that the town if Rye Brook would be another thorn on earths side. Let’s preserve nature and wetlands and not destroy it.
