November 17, 2006 Re: Sink Hole in front yard The Village of Rye Brook is aware of the sinkhole condition within your front yard that you reported to our office on October 6, 2006. Shortly thereafter my office conducted a site investigation to ascertain the source of the sinkhole. Employees from the Engineering Department and Highway Department searched your property for any sources of the sinkhole. Our main intent was to locate access points to any pipe for the purpose of enabling video camera equipment entry to record it. At that time, no entry point or source was located. This office then conducted research of our records to determine if any pipe or easement is located in the general area of the hole. An extensive search of available building files revealed no documentation of a storm water drainage easement through your yard. A sanitary sewer easement is located in your front yard. It parallels the sidewalk approximately 6'-0" inward from the sidewalk toward your front yard. This is far from the site and has no relation to the sinkhole. We conclude that the problem is your front yard is not in any Village right of way or easement, and no known Village pipe or facility is in the immediate area. The Village recommends you retain the services of a professional to research possible causes and to rectify the condition. The Village Engineering Department requests you maintain contact with our office, as we are interested in the possible cause as well as remediation proposed. Carosi P.E. / Michal Nowak Date: 11-15-06 Re: 774 King Street (sink hole front yard) Cc: File Dear Mr. & Mrs. Tamucci: On October 6, 2006, a phone call was made to the Village of Rye Brook building Department regarding a potential sink hole located in the front yard of the property located at 774 King Street and a work order was taken. Shortly there after a member of the Engineering Department along with the highway department and a pipe camera crew (Fred Cook) searched your property for any access points to try to camera any possible source of the sink hole. Per this field visit, numerous other field visits and an extensive search of available building files has revealed no. documentation of a storm water drainage easement through your yard. However, there is a sanitary sewer easement that parallels the sidewalk and is located in your front yard located approximately 6'-0" inward from the sidewalk on to your front yard. Please note that the ongoing sink hole is located not in any village right of way or easement. The Village Engineering department recommends you retain the services of a professional to research possible causes. The Village Engineering department would like to be kept in contact with as we would like to be aware of the proposed cause as well as remediation proposed.
