As a single woman living alone who also has to spend time on the road, I am not at all comfortable with the situation one house away from me. In the 4 years I have lived on Windsor road, I have seen multiple tenants come and go with decreasing duration of stay and quality of occupants as the home's condition continues to deteriorate. The repeated arrival of police and fire department personnel at this home over the last few weeks at all hours of the night in addition to the suspicious activity in and around the home is not acceptable. I was drawn to the neighborhood for it's close knit neighbors, well kept homes and safe, quiet environment and at a significant expense I might add. Having to deal with the frequent strangers in the neighborhood, police visits, and individuals living in the home who do it belong there is just not what I bargained for. We take great pride in our homes, their appearance and upkeep and to see this poorly maintained home with grass knee high on many occasions with or in between tenants is just not acceptable. I would like to suggest you put yourself in our shoes and view the safety concerns of our families, the damage to our property values and disturbance of our peace raised by this loosely managed rental home. Enough is enough. I've copied in a number of neighbors so they are all on this thread. As a group we spoke to the landlord on Friday. She was at the house. She claimed to have no idea about all the police and fire activity. Seems unlikely, but nonetheless she told us she's been trying to evict these folks for months and that they now have a squatter. She has installed a new lock in the hopes of keeping her out. Hopefully this resolves soon and the landlord either sells or rents to people that are both financially and socially sound. Both those boxes were not checked this time around. Does the town require the name of anyone on the lease to be disclosed? This would help avoid multi-family pop ups in single family zoned neighborhoods. Best, Rich PS grass remains over-grown despite landlord telling us she would have it cut on Saturday. To be clear, this is not about agitation. It is about safety with an emphasis on safety for our kids. Remember, we were asked to keep this office appraised of unusual activities. We were told this was the only way to get results. Thus the emails. Police showing up to "assist" tenants to move back into a house that had a recent gun complaint certainly qualifies. There is clearly a real issue. It is important that there is a written trail here. The town has been alerted and the responsibility for resolve lies with the town. Hopefully, there are no further incidents that could have been prevented by acting on information that has been provided by very concerned neighbors. My wife inquired what was going on. An officer told her they were there to assist the old renters in moving back in. Why would police be needed to assist people in moving in unless there was a problem? Also, there were more random people in and out 5 of the house over the past couple of weeks. Who exactly lives in this house? It is zoned for one family but there are many random residents. There is also a lock on an internal room door, according to one of the residents, which I believe is a violation. Finally, the grass is overgrown again and warrants a fine. Note, there was a"for rent"sign up for a week. It's now down. At the very least,we as neighbors have a right to know the name of the family who is renting and supposed to be on the lease. We do not want a flop house on our block, which is what this is. I believe a building inspection of the interior is justified and should be done ASAP. Please advise. Very helpful. I will let the neighbors know as well. This house has brought police multiple times(one for a gun report related to an X boyfriend), as well as the fire department many times. I believe CPS was also alerted. There are random tenants and not one family. Adult males riding kids bikes with backpacks. This is not normal. We have kids here and it is not safe. We even had one male drive his van through a crowd of kids riding bikes forcing them off the road. That was over a year ago and was reported to the police. I think that male was evicted. Although he has been seen at the house since. Seems the multi residents is a violation. Do tenant names need to be reported to the town the same way owner names are? The landlord should be ashamed and fined. Anyway, safety is the most important thing a resident of a town can hope for and that has been challenged with this flop house.
