Background Information: The back of house corridor leading to and from the kitchen was identified to have life safety issues. The following scope of work is intended to remedy the life safety issues from a point of entry at the loading dock to the kitchen,and around to the banquet area. The attached Exhibit A is a floor plan that identifies the areas of work intended for this permit. The area of work is separated into two separate areas: 1) The portion identified in yellow was originally constructed in 1972 and requires one scope of work to remedy the life safety issues. 2) The portion identified in blue was originally constructed in 1976 and requires a separate scope of work to remedy the life safety issues. Scope of Work for the Yellow area (original construction in 1972): 1) Remove the existing lower acoustical ceiling tile&grid. 2) Remove the existing upper fire-rated acoustical ceiling tile&grid,which have been compromised over the past several years and no longer represent a valid fire- rated assembly. 3) Install sprayed-on fireproofing on the exposed structural bar joists in accordance with the assemblies defined in Exhibit B. 4) Perimeter walls of the defined area shall be reviewed for penetrations or holes that are not fire-rated. A drywall blow-out patch or other approved assembly shall be installed and fire-caulked at any locations where the walls have been compromised. 5) Structural slabs for the floor above shall also be reviewed for penetrations or holes. Penetrations in the slab above shall be rectified using appropriate construction methods. 6) A Westchester County Licensed Electrician will identify which electrical&low voltage wiring has been abandoned in-place. All wiring identified as being abandoned in-place shall be removed from the above ceiling areasmithin the limits of construction. 7) The exposed electrical wiring shall be fastened directly to the bar joists above in accordance with the current edition of NEC(National Electric Code) and applicable local codes. 8) Covers shall be placed on any open junction boxes. 9) The existing 2'x 4'light fixtures shall be discarded. New fixtures shall be independently attached to the bar joists above and the wiring to the light fixtures shall be reviewed for code compliance. Non-compliant wiring shall be replaced. 10)Fire Alarm and Exit devices shall be reviewed for conformance with all applicable codes. 11)A new acoustical ceiling tile&grid shall be installed. The specification for the ceiling tile is Armstrong Dune Square Lay-In tiles. The specification for the ceiling grid is Armstrong Prelude XL. 12)A new set of 90-minute rated double doors shall be installed at the location identified on the plans. Note:the plans note an existing set of double doors at this location,which were previously removed. Scope of Work for the Blue area(original construction in 1976): The structural system in the Blue area consists of masonry walls which extend up to the structural deck above. The structural steel beams in this area were fireproofed. The fluted metal deck above is not fireproofed and does not require fireproofing based on the structural assembly in this area. Therefore,the scope of work in this area will consist of: 1) The ceiling tiles in this area shall be removed and discarded. The ceiling grid in this area shall remain in-place. 2) Perimeter walls of the defined area shall be reviewed for penetrations or holes that are not fire-rated.
