Dear Mr. Stahl, The Building Department is in receipt of your letter dated July 13,2007,requesting a temporary modification to the hours of operation of construction equipment at the Rye Ridge Shopping Center, a copy of which is attached. Due to the inherent risks associated with asbestos removal, permission is hereby granted to allow Asbestos Corporation of America, your designated abatement company,to perform its asbestos removal operations during the non-business hours of 8:00pm thru 1:00am,as per our earlier telephone conversation. These temporary modified hours of operation will take effect starting on Monday,July 16,2007 and ending on Friday morning 6 1:00am July 20,2007. Furthermore, due to the heavy volume of vehicle and pedestrian traffic at the Shopping Center during normal business hours, permission is hereby granted on a trial basis only to allow your site contractors to commence staging work at 7:00am,Monday thru Friday starting on July 17,2007. Please note that this permission may be revoked by the Building Department at any time, and for any reason. As is the case at all times site construction is underway, the following conditions shall be met: 1. Dedicated vehicle and pedestrian traffic control personnel shall be in place at all times. 2. Traffic control personnel shall be provided with, and utilize appropriate clothing and hand held devices at all times, including high-visibility safety vests and flags, and hand held high-visibility STOP/CAUTION signs. 3. Solid barricades shall be in place at all times to help direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic away from construction operations, and provide a clearly marked, obvious path of travel for vehicles and pedestrians to the appropriate site parking, business or exit. 4. Caution tape is not a substitute for solid barricades and shall only be used in addition to solid barricades. 5. Construction operations shall be adequately separated from the public at all times. As echoed in your letter, protection of the public is the number one concern of the Building Department, and these above listed safety measures must be in place at all times. Please be advised that failure to implement and maintain these measures will result in the revocation of the modified hours of operations, and may result in the issuance of a general Stop Work Order. A COPY OF THIS NOTICE MUST BE KEPT ON THE JOB SITE AND BE MADE AVAILABLE FOR REVIEW UPON DEMAND BY ANY BONAFIED VILLAGE OFFICIAL Thank you for your anticipated continued cooperation, and please feel free to contact this office if you should require any further information.
