Dear Mr. Stahl,
The Building Department is in receipt of your letter dated 8/9/07 requesting permission to demolish the
remainder of the old building canopy at the shopping center, during night time hours, a copy of which is
attached.
Naturally the safety of the public is my first priority, and given that the retail stores, business occupancies,
and shopping center in general will be closed to the public during that time, permission is hereby
granted on a trial basis to perform demolition operations on the remaining portion of the
canopy between the hours of 8:00pm thru 5:00am, effective immediately, and ending on
Friday morning, August 17,2007 at 5:00am.
The following conditions shall apply;
1. There shall be no playing of radios, CDs or tapes at any time, except for personal
listening devices.
2. Hand tools are to be used as opposed to electric, pneumatic, or powder actuated
tools whenever possible.
3. Debris is to be placed into containers as opposed to thrown or dropped whenever
possible.
4. Loud or inappropriate language is expressly forbidden.
5. Staging of equipment and personnel is to take place at the northern most area of the
compound. (near the cinema)
6. A site safety inspection, conducted by the Building Department is to be scheduled by
you, and successfully completed every day prior to the opening of any retail or
business occupancy.
7. This notice must be kept by the foreman at the jobsite and shall be produced upon
demand by any bonafide Village Official.
8. This permission may be revoked at any time, for any reason.
Thank you for your anticipated cooperation and please feel free to contact this office should you
require any further information.

Mr. Michael Izzo,Building Inspector
Village of Rye Brook AUG 2007

Dear Mr. Izzo:
Thank you for taking the time to meet with me today. As we discussed we would like to remove
the remaining shopping center canopy at night. Night work would reduce the demolition time
requirements and reduce the intrusion into our tenants' businesses. Additionally, pedestrian
traffic can be entirely eliminated since the work would be performed after the retailers have
closed. We would like to start the demolition immediately upon completion of the abatement,
which is on scheduled to be completed on the night of Monday August 131h. The demolition is
anticipated to take three nights, starting on Tuesday August 14`h and the structure completely
removed by Friday morning August 17. Weather related delays in the remaining abatement or
anticipated demolition schedule would move the exact dates I've provided to shift out into the
week of August 20`h,however the number of actual work days should be considered accurate.
In order to accommodate a three night demolition schedule we are requesting permission to work
through the entire night. The hours between 2:00 AM to 5:OOAM would be used primarily to
restore the site to a condition that would allow stores to open later that morning. Storefront
protection will be installed in the demolition area each night and removed before the retailers
open their stores.
Saugatuck Construction will be scheduling morning inspections with your office, so the Village
can ensure that the site is safe for public use prior to retailers opening for business. Building
Department concerns regarding public safety and construction practices will be addressed each
day before retailers open for business.
Again, thank you for considering this request and we look forward to positive response.
Very Truly Yours,
