Wolff Comments1 Alex Marshall Subject:FW: 900 King Street Project From: Katie Wolff <katierwolff@gmail.com> Date: October 14, 2020 at 1:24:12 PM EDT Subject: 900 King Street Project To the Village Board: My husband and I chose to move to Rye Brook just under 2 years ago. He grew up here, his parents still live here, and we envisioned giving our children a safe and comfortable lifestyle outside of the hustle and bustle of NYC. I never envisioned that I would have to defend the necessity for continued safety and comfort for my children once we became Rye Brook residents. There is no doubt, the 900 King Street project will cause all the issues you have heard from village residents: noise, pollution, and safety concerns during the construction phase; potential damage to neighboring homes and a vast increase in traffic both during and post construction. The proposed structure is too large, not only in general, but for the land they are planning to build on. The newly proposed structure will also be too close to The Arbors, and as a resident, I am personally concerned about the impact this will have on the value of my home when I choose to sell. One of the most notable at this time, however, is given the state of the world with the current COVID pandemic upon us, who does the developer think will actually move into their development? Even pre-COVID, I had spoken with several older generation Rye Brook residents who had zero desire to move from their homes into this proposed development. And now, with COVID present, I would expect the prospective residents to be even lower. It seems not only does this project have structural issues, with damaging effects on the nearby community’s safety, value and enjoyment, it also may be built for no one at all. The space at 900 King Street would be better served as a viable business office (which many companies may now have interest in sharing that space). This project would be better suited for another vacant space such as Doral (to offer amenity of golf course) or the Hilton (more private and close to necessities in Rye Ridge Plaza). It sounds like a lose-lose situation; terrible location and lot size for their proposed monstrosity and terrible timing to build a community for the older target age. This project will literally damage the niche neighborhood of The Arbors. I hope you truly reconsider the proposed 900 King Street project and put the valid concerns of current Rye Brook residents ahead of hypothetical prospective ones. Best, Katie Wolff Sent from my iPhone
