Subject:900 King Street
Mayor and Board of Trustees
The site of the 900 King Street King Street proposed senior housing is unique to our community of the Arbors in Rye
Brook. As you are aware, it is distinctive in that it is located on the property adjacent to The Arbors on a street, Arbor
Drive, that allows only one access in and out of our community. The developers have often compared this site to other
senior livings in the area, but the fact is that this location is very different from other senior developments. This
repurposing is not only a detriment to the 250 homes in The Arbors sharing an access road one way in and out, but it
additionally will cause further major travel congestion on King Street not only to The Arbors, but to our schools and our
neighbors all along King Street despite the projected reports the developer has presented. As most residents in the area
experience, this is already an existing challenge without adding further expansion. The intentions of the mixed used when
The Arbors and 900 King Street were created could not have anticipated nor expected the current plans for expansion for
this location in Rye Brook.
I ask that you also seriously consider the quality of life concerns to us in the Arbors. In addition to the long term potential
obstacles, the construction will not only affect our well-being on a daily basis to our environment, health, and visual
aesthetics during construction (a fence isn't at all appealing for the term of construction), and access to our community,
but can potentially create new issues to our streets, water/electrical concerns, and displaced animals and
unforeseen rodents due to construction. Another concern, is there has been no clear delineation as to what happens
when once developed, there is a resident who falls, gets ill or needs paramedics late at night.
To this date, there have been no concessions on the part of the developer that make us residents feel in the slightest less
concerned.
Thank you for your time and consideration for the residents of the Arbors and all of Rye Brook. Please reconsider this
taking over and repurposing of our neighborhood.
