Mayor Rosenberg and Honorable Members of the Village Board of Trustees
Village of Rye Brook Offices
938 King Street
Rye Brook, NY 10573
Dear Mayor and Trustees:
As residents of the Arbors since 1978, we are concerned with the proposed redevelopment of
900 King Street. We thank the Village Board for their time and effort in reviewing this project
but the main issue of density doesn’t seem to be adequately addressed. Until this is done all
other issues are ancillary in nature.
After attending most of the meetings for the past 3 years, we feel that the project is still too
dense. The fact that that it went from 269 units down to 241 is laughable and does not take
into consideration the main concern of the Arbors’ homeowners – Density. As you are aware
the property is zoned for 106 units and the developer’s original proposal of 269 units would be
2 1/2 times this amount. Can’t we find a middle ground in these amounts?
We believe that any changes to the PUD affect us and we (the HOA) should have a voice in
those changes to the PUD that are different from its original use. We are opposed to the project
as presently designed.
Our lives and plans have changed since the pandemic hit us. The reality is that the village should
not even be considering this type of project at this time. Even though we are of the age to move
into a residence such as the one being proposed, we 1) have to reconsider this type of living in
the Age of Covid and 2) don’t find this proposal inviting at all - too dense with no amenities.
Thank you for taking into consideration all issues expressed by the closest neighbors of this
project and request that the density issue be resolved before you take a final vote on this
project.
Sincerely,
Fred & Linda Chakar
