Subject:900 King Street Development Plan
To the Honorable Mayor Rosenberg and Members of the Village Board:
I am writing to strongly oppose the plan for the 900 King Street project as it currently is designed. I have lived
in Rye Brook since 1993 and raised my daughter with the 900 King Street office building in my backyard. The
owners used to be great neighbors, but until they wanted to redevelop the property, they stopped maintaining
the buffer area and have not been replanting the trees that keep falling or dying, allowing the area to thin out
between the properties. They have been mowing again lately, but I am not happy to learn that the new
buildings will be even bigger than the office building that is already there.
In addition, three years of construction noise, that the developer actually called “Highly Objectionable” for 6
months and then only 3 decibels lower for an additional 11 months. This is completely unacceptable! The
building should be shrunk both in the number of units and the building should be moved further away from our
homes. In addition, they must install a noise barrier that blocks the noise so that my backyard is usable. They
can not be allowed to start construction at 7 A.M as that is an unfair burden to us on Ivy Hill.
Finally, my mother has chosen to live at home in Rye and no one she knows would ever consider moving to a
home like this instead of staying in their own home, especially now that they have seen what happened to
people who live in these types of facilities, It will take a very long time for people to reconsider these types of
living arrangements again, even if a cure is found for this disease. Please keep that in mind when you decide if
we should be burdened by all this construction for something that probably is no longer needed today.
Thank you for reading my comments and I hope that you will help protect the existing residents of Rye Brook.
Sincerely,
Lois Gordon
