Dear Village Board,
The past few days have been really stressful for all of us that lost power for a significant amount of time and I
want to send my appreciation for the hard work you all did to help us restore power.
Tonight, the Village will look at a proposal to rezone 900 King St. to allow over double the amount of density
that is currently permitted. I believe that this is not a good idea for the Village. It seems that the developer has
dragged on this process for three years without making many significant changes to a project that greatly
exceeds the current zoning restrictions. While I know that losing the hotels was not ideal for the town, the
developer needs us more than we need them. Please do not allow such a large complex to be built in our
village. While I can appreciate the need for some additional senior housing, I think it is a mistake to assume
that there are 400 people who want to move to a property like the one being proposed.
Also, I believe that companies are now looking to relocate from NYC and so the office building that stands
today may actually be marketable again in the near future.
Please hold the line on this project and insist on a much smaller footprint and total number of people living and
working there. I truly believe that a smaller facility will be much more marketable in today’s world and will serve
the Village well for a longer period of time.
Thanks again,
Brian and Laura
