All work shall conform to the requirements, standards and specifications of the New York -American Water Company, Inc. 2. Mimimum depth of cover for water main 41-0". 3. Newly installed water mains shall be tested for leakage in accordance with AWWA standard C600-82. 4. All new, Cleaned or repaired water mains and appurtenances shall be disinfected in accordance with AWWA, standard C601-81 except as per section 5.1. 5. Where hydrant or blowoff drains are not plugged, a pocket or dry well shall be provided unless the natural soils will provide adequate drainage, hydrant or blowoff drains shall not be connected to or located within ten feet ( 10' ) of sanitary sewers or storm drains. 6. All water main installation shall be accomplished with Class 50 DIP. 7. All valves and fittings to be ductile iron mechnical joint ( Mi ) . 8. All hydrant installations shall be rodded between the MJ tee and gate valve and the gate valve and hydrant elbow with two ( 2 ) 3/4" rods. 9. All ductile iron pipe ( DIP ), fittings and appurtenances shall conform to the following specifications: Mi & Tyton joint ductile iron pipe AWWA C151, ANSI A21.51.
