I’m not really certain what this issue is with this site. I am wondering if the contractor wasn’t paid for all or part of the work.
But I can provide you with the documents in the Dec file. I have attached the soil sample results taken from the base of
the excavation, as well as a few photos provided by the contractor.

Hello Ms Gerardi,
Just getting back to you on this inquiry. This spill case involved removal of a 550 gallon heating oil tank.
The contractor removed and disposed of approximately 40 tons of contaminated soil in October of
2019. At that point the homeowner was denied insurance coverage and work stopped. New England
Environmental stated there was still significant contamination that needed to be removed. I requested
soil samples from the base of the open excavation, and when they were submitted the contamination
levels were relatively minor. There were a few compounds detected at levels below the DEC Cleanup
Guidance levels, and only one compound exceeded the guidance levels. Based upon the sample results
and the lack of ground water impact, it was my determination that the remaining contamination does
not pose any risk to human health or the environment. I discussed this case with one of my coworkers
and he concurred on my decision to close the spill. I'm not really certain what "temporarily closed"
would mean, but that is not the case with this spill incident.
