To the Board of Trustees:
I wanted to share my concerns regarding the environmental impact of the proposed 900 King Street
Redevelopment project from a parent’s point of view.
Despite the presented traffic changes, I believe there will be a big impact in regards to traffic on Arbor
Drive. Although the project is being advertised as senior living, people currently work into their 70s and
there will certainly be residents coming from and going to work.
Arbor Drive is not only a thoroughfare for cars, and buses, it is also used as a pedestrian street. Arbor
drive is used for Arbor residents for walking/ running for exercise and walking their dogs. It is also, and
most importantly, the way many students walk to and from Blind Brook MS/HS. There are a number of
unofficial paths into the school that are used and the increased traffic will certainly impact the safety of
our children.
However, if the Redevelopment is focusing on those closer to 80 as stated during Village Planning and
Board Meetings, there is no reason to rezone to residents 55 years of age or older. If each rental has to
have only one occupant 55 or above, there certainly will be an increase in school enrollment. I would
image those 24 residential townhouses will certainly have children living there; therefore, more buses
may needed to take children to school, and more students would be walking and crossing Arbor Drive to
get to school.
Thank you for hearing my concerns.
