The installation will be completed in accordance with all New York Building and Electrical codes as specified by the Rye Brook Code Compliance Department and the State of New York. Roof Installation: Due to the age of the roof. Empire Solar Solutions, LLC will be removing existing layers of shingles from the main roof of the house. The garage roof does not need replacing and is not included in the proposal. Depending on the condition of the roof sheathing, new plywood will be utilized to replace any damaged plywood in those areas we deem require repair Once the sheathing is repaired, we will use standard roofing practices (6 feet of ice shield, felt paper)to install Lifetime Architect Timberline HD shingles. To the extent possible it is our goal to have the new roof resemble the old roof as closely as possible. Please see the attached product sheet that illustrates the material we plan to use. Solar Installation: The photovoltiac solar system will consist of 23 Solar World 30OW panels. Solar World is a 40 year old American solar company, and they manufacture a product that we feel is the best value on the market from an efficiency, productivity, and economical standpoint. The system will not be visible from the street because the garage will obscure its visibility. According to NYS Electrical Code we must use a Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT)conduit that runs down the north facing side of the house. After all inspections are complete, we can paint the conduit to make it uniform with the color of the siding. The EMT will connect to an white Solar Edge inverter box and a small AC disconnect (please see attached example photos). None of this equipment will be visible from the street, and the shrubs on the property will further block the equipment. It may be possible that we can mount the inverter inside the home but this will depend on the amount of space next to the main service panel in accordance with NYS Electrical Code.. We have found the residence roof to be of wood frame construction bearing walls with a 2xI2(ci 20" rafter framed roof sheathed with 1/2"ext decking and a single layer of composite shingle roofing. The wood framed roof structure bears directly upon the framed exterior wall system. The existing rafters as installed meet the required IRC-2010 table 802 design span ratings with sufficient capacity to carry the 2.89#/sf additional load imposed by the proposed solar array per the details below. Installation of solar rack systems shall be as follows: Each panel row shall be supported upon 2 mounting rails. Rails shall be screw anchored through roof and directly to rafters or purlins below. Rail attachment points to rafters shall be staggered each row with exception to the first fastener row from the gable end which is attached to two adjacent rafters/trusses with Stainless Steel fasteners. Rail attachment to roof shall be fastened 16-24"o.c. at corners and 48"o.c. through the field. Rails are to be placed at 2448"o.c. on the roof. When installed per the above specifications the system shall meet the required 110 MPH wind load and 30 PSF ground snow load requirements.
