a. Fall Program Updates
1.) Men's Basketball
Superintendent Bertolacci said we are in danger of this program being
cancelled right now as we have 9 men registered but we need 15 to run
the program. He said an email was sent out to all the men registered to
try and drum up more people to sign up. Chairman Buzin added that a
number of the other men, including him, would like to know if
Recreation would consider running the program even if the price had to
be raised as some of the members would be willing to pay the extra
money to have the program available. Superintendent Bertolacci said
that would be a Village Board decision/approval as they set the fees for
the program.

3.) Floor Hockey
Superintendent Bertolacci said for floor hockey we have nine kids total
as we had to cancel the kindergarten group and we combined the two
kindergarteners who were registered to the ls`grade group. He said it is
not a great number but at least we are running the program.

Superintendent Bertolacci said we have 20 kids for ice skating which is
more then we have had in a few years. He also mentioned there were 10
children registered for bowling.
b. Bob Bigelow
Superintendent Bertolacci said he spoke to Bob Bigelow a few times this week
specifically about whether he would let the Village videotape his clinic. He said
absolutely not. However,he does have videotapes that he is willing to sell to the
Village for$75. Superintendent Bertolacci said that he thinks for$75 it is worth
the Village purchasing it and have the coaches sit through a 2 hour clinic.
Superintendent Bertolacci said we will be advertising Bob Bigelow & the
Coaches Clinic via email blasts, the Westmore News and the Cable channel.
c. Pine Ridge Basketball Courts
Superintendent Bertolacci said the courts are finished as they are now a little narrower than

VII. Old Business:
Chairman Buzin asked Superintendent Bertolacci if he had gotten in touch with the sponsor,
Parker Jewish Institute. Superintendent Bertolacci said not yet but he would reach out to them
tomorrow.
VIII. New Business:
a. Superintendent Bertolacci said he thought it would be a good idea for the Council
to start talking amongst themselves and the community about new facilities. He
said the subject of new facilities is in the study that Jamie Schutzer was involved
with. He said that in the study it mentions that the Village is going to be looking
into a community center/gymnasium type pool structure/building. Superintendent
Bertolacci said he would like to focus on this. Chairman Buzin said he had to
shoot this idea down but not because it was not a good idea. He said that until
there is complete buy in by the Village Board on this subject he did not want
anyone on the Council wasting their time on it. Superintendent Bertolacci said
the study is on the Village's website for viewing. Superintendent Bertolacci said
he would approach the Village Administrator about this and get his feedback.
The Council discussed amongst themselves viable options as to where the Village
could build a new facility.
b. Community Coalition
Chairman Buzin said he went to their meeting and met with the athletic director.
He said there is a coordinator, Pat Renz, who he spoke with about Community
Coalition making use of our ability to give kids, especially middle school kids,
programming if indeed the Community Coalition is trying to give kids healthy
choices. He said they understood what he was getting at.He thought maybe they
would kick in some money for Bob Bigelow but that did not happen. However,
he said it opened up an interesting conversation about who signs off on the money
for their programs as they have a$125,000 grant each year and the amount of
money they actually put in to programs is embarrassingly low. He said that they
are going to put together an Executive Board which they asked him to be on.
Chairman Buzin added that he had a discussion with Chris Bradbury on this issue.
The school would not be adverse to the Village taking over the program and he
thinks there may be some positives for Recreation and we may be able to get
some money for programs. He said he asked Chris Bradbury if he would approach
this with the Village Board.
