Convene Meeting:
Parks and Recreation Advisory Council Chairman Buzin called the meeting to order at
8:06pm.
The following Members of the Parks&Recreation Advisory Council were present:

1. Minutes:
a. Approve May 3,2016 Minutes:
Chairman Buzin asked for a motion to accept the May 3,2016 minutes.Council Member Zahl
made the motion to accept the May 3,2016 minutes and Council Member Keilman seconded the
motion.The minutes were accepted and approved.
H. Public View Points:
There were no public view points to report.
III.Superintendent's Report:
a. Garibaldi Playground
Superintendent Bertolacci said the playground is complete and open for use today. He said the
dedication will take place in July.
b. Rye Brook Birthday
Superintendent Bertolacci said the Rye Brook Birthday is this Saturday from 12-4pm and he is
still looking for volunteers. Chairman Buzin, Council Member Saghir, Council Member
Keilman & Council Member Tillison all volunteered to help out at the Rye Brook Birthday
Celebration. Superintendent Bertolacci reviewed the food menu, all the activities and rides for
the Birthday Celebration. He said Acme Supermarket donated most of the food.

c. Pine Ridge Basketball Courts
Superintendent Bertolacci said the Pine Ridge basketball courts are complete. He said we
blacktopped the entire court placed drains in the middle,removed the pillars and put in a curb on
the left hand side of the driveway. He said the final layer is on the courts and it will be color
coated in mid-August.
d. Day Camp
Superintendent Bertolacci said registrations are coming in for camp. He stated that for Travel
Camp 29 kids have signed up and for Day Camp 83 kids have signed up.
e. After School Program Update
Superintendent Bertolacci said a letter, which we provided, went out today from the schools
regarding this program and registration opens on Friday. Chairman Buzin said he thinks this
could be a huge win and thanked Superintendent Bertolacci for taking the lead on it. Chairman
Buzin thinks it is a great thing for us to be doing. Superintendent Bertolacci said the program
will be staffed by Rye Brook Recreation and that he is going to hire two Teachers Aids from the
School District and he is also trying to get an Intern from Manhattanville College.
Superintendent Bertolacci said in order to do any homework we have to apply to the State as we
have to be licensed.
Superintendent Bertolacci said he had one thing to add, as there is a vacancy in the Rec
Department for those who had not heard,as our newest Rec Leader resigned from her position.
Superintendent Bertolacci said Jamie Florindi is temporarily filling in to assist with Day Camp.
IV.Village-PTA Coordinating Subcommittee—Rick Buzin:
Chairman Buzin asked for the permission of the Council to do away with this subcommittee as
he feels its mission has been accomplished.Council Member Tillison expressed concern in doing
away with the committee being that the Rec Department is currently understaffed and the After
School program is new and we want to make sure it gets the attention it deserves. Superintendent
Bertolacci said in the worst case scenario he will be there to oversee the program as he is not
putting this responsibility on the Rec Leaders. The Council Members voted to eliminate the
Village-PTA Coordinating Subcommittee.
V. Basketball Subcommittee Report—Mike Keilman:
Council Member Keilman said there was nothing to report as they are currently not playing
basketball.
Council Member Tillison stated that the Council mentioned a few times in past meetings about
having someone come in to do some clinics for the coaches. He said that maybe we should
address this now before it is too late.He said the Council had talked about getting Bob Bigelow,
as he runs clinics for coaches on how to teach youth basketball which a lot of our volunteer
coaches could benefit from. The Council discussed options for coaches and how they would go
about getting someone on board.Chairman Buzin said he would reach out to Bob Bigelow being
that he knew him in college. The Council Members agreed that Chairman Buzin should take the
lead and try and connect with Bob Bigelow.

VI.Grievance Subcommittee Report-Adam Zahl:
a. Code of Conduct:
Council Member Zahl had nothing new to report.
VII. Baseball Subcommittee Report-Scott Tillison:
Council Member Tillison said baseball season will be over next week. He said he wanted to
address a few issues with the old field.He said the dugouts apply to both fields as there are gaps
between the tops of the fence. Superintendent Bertolacci said the dugouts are on his agenda to
fix this summer at both fields. Council Member Tillison said the second issue is that the portable
mound on the old field is crooked. Council Member Tillison added he felt that baseball season
did not get the attention it deserved this season. Council Member Tillison also pitched that the
Major League championship game be played on the new field.

There was no old business to report.
IX. New Business:
There was no new business to report.
X. Adjournment:
Chairman Buzin asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting.Council Member Keilman
made the motion to adjourn the meeting and Council Member Saghir seconded the motion.All
approved and the meeting was adjourned at 8:49pm. The next meeting of the Parks and
Recreation Advisory Council will be held on Tuesday, September 6,2016 at 8:OOpm.
