and Blank.
Members absent on this date: Commissioners Brackman, Berman and Ferraro.

Trustee Romano (not present)
Convene Meeting: Meeting called to order by Chairman Appelbaum at 08:04 PM.
Approval of Minutes: Motion made to accept the minutes of the 10/06/08 Traffic
Commission meeting as is by Commissioner Heiser, seconded by Commissioner Blank.
All are in favor.
Report to Commission: A traffic survey was conducted on Pine Ridge Rd between the
dates of 10/06/2008 to 10/08/2008. The survey was conducted with the use of traffic
tubes to record the speed of all vehicles traveling on the roadway between the dates
indicated. The results of our survey shows that the average vehicle speed on Pine Ridge
Rd was 25 mph in a 30 mph posted speed zone. The results of this survey indicate that
the reported speeding condition upon Pine Ridge Rd appears to be unfounded at this time.
Old Business: No old business.
New Business:
1. A possible parking condition was reported to the traffic commission on Sleepy
Hollow Rd. The complainant stated that vehicles have been parking on both sides
of Sleepy Hollow Rd near the intersection of N Ridge St. This parking condition
may be interfering with the normal traffic flow at this intersection. A survey of
the area will be conducted and documented by the police department and the
results will be brought before the traffic commission at the next meeting for
review.
2. Commissioner Appelbaum addressed the traffic commission concerning the
traffic signal located at S Ridge St and Ellendale Ave (Rye Ridge Shopping
Center South). Commissioner Appelbaum suggested that the signal be changed to
include green turn arrows into the traffic sequence. The first green arrow to be
installed would allow vehicles traveling north bound on S Ridge St to make a left
turn into the Rye Ridge South Shopping Center parking lot. The second green
arrow indicator would be placed on the east bound side of the traffic signal exiting
the Rye Ridge South parking lot. This would allow vehicles exiting the shopping
center to make right hand turns during this same sequence. These green arrow
indicators could assist in the steady flow of traffic and reduce congestion on
South Ridge Street due to the back up of vehicles attempting to enter and exit the
shopping center. A motion was made to bring this recommendation to the
attention of the Village Administrator by Commissioner Blank and was seconded
by Commissioner Heiser. All in Favor.
Meeting adjourned: Motion by Commissioner Walter. Motion seconded by
Commissioner Blank. All are in favor 08:30 pm.
Next Meeting: 02/02/2009 at 8:00 pm.
