Patrols have reported there have been no speeding violations observed
Old Business: Traffic Commission was advised that a letter was written to the Arbors
HOA advising them the traffic issues they have are issues the HOA will have to address
with their residents, it is not a Police Issue or an issue for the Traffic Commission.
The Traffic Commission discussed the issues brought up at the 2/9/15 meeting, by a
resident on Castle View. Mr. Wallenstein had contacted Senator Latimer's office
regarding traffic issues on King Street since King Street is a state roadway. He was
informed that the in order for the NYS DOT conduct a traffic Study, the request would
have to originate with the Village of Rye Brook. A motion was made by Commissioner
Russo/Gordon to recommend the Village Board request the State to conduct the study.
All present were in favor.
New Business: Mr. and Mrs. Chen who are residents of North Ridge Street addressed the
Commission in reference to the area of 257 North Ridge Street. There are no sidewalks
on the Odd numbered side of the roadway; they feel it is very dangerous for children to
cross the street. They also feel it is also dangerous for anyone to walk along the side of
the roadway even to just get to the traffic Light at Betsy Brown Road to cross at that
location in order to get to the sidewalks. They requested that there be pedestrian crossing
or caution signs be posted in the area. They also would like the village to look into the
possibility of sidewalks to be placed on the odd side of the street.Motion made by
Commissioner Brigante/Gordon which was passed by all present to draft a letter to the
Village Engineer about the possibility of sidewalks being constructed in the area, due to
the dangerous curve and liomited sight distance making dangerous to cross in the area to
get to the side of the roadwhere the sidewalks are.
