Convene Meeting:
Chairman Jamie Schutzer called the meeting to order at 8:38PM.
The following Members of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Council were present:

I. Minutes:
a. Approve June 10, 2014 Minutes:
Chairman Schutzer tabled the July 8`h' 2014 Minutes until the next meeting of the Parks and
Recreation Advisory Council. .
II. Public View Points:
Chairman Schutzer said his son Daniel attends the day camp and the Arts and Crafts program at
the camp is fantastic. He is coming home with some real cool stuff. Chairman Schutzer said
whoever is running the class is doing a great job.
Superintendent Bertolacci said a Middle School teacher is running the Arts and Craft program.
Chairman Schutzer suggested bringing in once a week a Red Bulls soccer trainer or someone
from Pro Swing to do a sports program with the campers.
Superintendent Bertolacci said to attend one week of Teaches basketball camp is $425. Manny
Martinez's AAU Basketball program is $295.
Superintendent Bertolacci said the budget is cut, staff is cut and the number of campers is down
and it's really not a good time to bring in a specialist for the camp.
Committee Member Zahl said his family has sponsored a child from a Fresh Air Fund and she is
enjoying the camp and is very happy to be there.
III. Superintendent's Report:
a. Summer Camp Update:
Superintendent Bertolacci reported that the last day of camp is Friday. There were no major
incidents. Tomorrow there is a carnival at the day camp and it should be a fun day.

The numbers are down in the day camp with about 108 campers. Last year we had about the
same in numbers. A few years ago we had 250 campers. Superintendent Bertolacci said the
economy is better now and more kids are at sleep away camp and also the grades are getting
smaller. Superintendent Bertolacci said the day camp went on 4 trips.
The Teen Travel Camp averaged about 70 each week. We can accommodate up to 110. Today
the camp went to the movies, Monday the camp went to Bounce, and tomorrow they are going to
Palisades Climb. Thursday the camp will go to Brownstone and Friday the camp will stay at
home.
Chairman Schutzer asked if there was any feedback on the Steve Novak camp.
Superintendent Bertolacci said the program was well received and Steve Novak would like to
come back to Rye Brook next year.
Chairman Schutzer said that Steve Novak was approachable and he thanked the parents for
sending their children to the camp. Chairman Schutzer asked what revenue the Village received
for the program.
Superintendent Bertolacci said the Village's revenue for the program was $1,500. The majority
of the children were from outside the Village.
b. Little League Survey:
Superintendent Bertolacci reported that the Little League survey went out and we received 18
responses back. There were about 100 kids in the Little League program. The reviews were
mixed with some people pleased with the program and some not happy with the program. There
was a complaint about the lack of parking at Garibaldi Park.
Janice has to send the survey out for softball at the end of the camp season.
c. Fall Programs:
Superintendent Bertolacci said fall program registration is September 8t' at 9:30pm. We are having an art
class for 3 and 4 year olds. We are also trying to get a golf clinic that will take place in Rye Hills Park and
a Tae Kwon Class.
Superintendent Bertolacci said Movie in the Park is this Friday night. We will be showing Scooby Doo
Mask of the Blue Falcon. The Fall Brochure will be on line in about 2 weeks.
Superintendent Bertolacci said there will be a Concert in the Park on Sunday at Pine Ridge Park. It will be
a Jazz music. Concert in the Park is organized by Trustee Susan Epstein. An e-mail blast will go out for
all the upcoming events in Rye Brook.
Superintendent Bertolacci said in December we are going to have a tree and Menorah lighting at Pine
Ridge Park. Halloween in the park will take place on October 17th and 18th.
IV. Baseball Sub-Committee Report— Scott Tillison
There is no report from the Baseball Sub-Committee.
V. Basketball Sub-Committee Report—Brian Funtleyder
Committee Member Funtleyder said we have to work on a coach's meeting to discuss the rules and that
those have to be followed. Also we need to discuss the expectations of how to deal with the players,
playing time and everyone following the same rules. Besides those issues, basketball runs well. There
are issues with the coaches and the referees. We have discussed which refs are good and which refs
aren't. Superintendent Bertolacci said the recreation staff is looking into the refs that Corpus Christi uses
and OLM. Superintendent Bertolacci said it's all one organization and it all depends who they send.

The wall at Pine Ridge Park will probably get painted next week.
The basketball courts at Pine Ridge Park will be shut down the beginning of September. The courts are
getting repaved, the drains are coming out and the courts are getting pitched.
The tennis courts 3 and 4 at Pine Ridge Park are closed from August 11 to August 20th for resurfacing.
VI. Grievance Sub-Committee Report—Adam Zahl
There are no grievances to report.
VII. Playground Sub-Committee Report—Traci Erenfryd
There is no report from the Playground Sub-Committee.
VIII. Old Business:
a. AED Signage:
Superintendent Bertolacci showed Chairman Schutzer and the committee what the signage for the AED is
going to look like. The sign is going into the bulletin board and the monument at the Rye Brook Athletic
Field.
IX. New Business:
There is no New Business.
X. Adjournment:
The Meeting was adjourned at 9:25pm.
The next meeting of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Council will be on September 9th, 2014 at
8:15PM.
