Superintendent Bertolacci said we would look into hosting games in Rye Brook in the future. Some of the requirements are having scoreboards, volunteers, the field has to be lined for each game, safety issues are checked, etc. We have to look into all the requirements for next year. Chairman Schutzer said he heard from parents in the Rookie League and Minor League that the coaches were not sending out e-mails regarding a scheduled game, or change in scheduling due to rain outs etc. There is a lack of communication from some of the coaches. Chairman Schutzer asked if the Rec Department could send out reminders to the parents to let them know the sports schedule for the week or let the parents know there is a schedule change due to the weather, etc. Superintendent Bertolacci said we can work on the issue of getting the message out to the parents. a. Superintendent's Report: Spring Program: Superintendent Bertolacci said Little League is coming to an end next Monday. Girls' softball ends tonight. There were tryouts for District 20 Minor Baseball The District team has been announced for 1168377.1 Major League Baseball and we have been dealing with the repercussions the last 3 days. The District 20 games start next Friday at 5:45 pm at Lyons Park. Kyle is the head coach of the team and his assistant coaches are Frank Carbone and Vin Repaci. Superintendent Bertolacci reported that our Major League Baseball played 6 inter league games against Port Chester. 2 games were played under the lights at the Port Chester Middle School Field. All the games were good except the last game. It got a little out of hand with some of the mouths from the other team. The umpire blew a couple of calls and the coach of the other team screamed at the umpire while the kids were shaking hands. That coach walked off the field and then came back on the field and started yelling again at the umpire. Kyle was at the game and asked the parents to be respectful and not to act that way especially in front of the kids. They kept yelling at the umpire and Kyle again asked them to be respectful. Committee Member Dutra said our kids did well against Port Chester with 5 wins and 1 loss. Committee Member Dutra asked how the coaches are selected. The team his son was on had only 1 coach because the other coach for his son's team would be on the basketball court instead of attending the game. Superintendent Bertolacci said he was a returning coach from last year and he didn't like the team, so he requested another team. We couldn't do that so the coach and his son just walked away leaving the team with one coach. Committee Member Dutra said that if some parents didn't step up there would have been only one coach for that team. This coach put in 150% for that team. Committee Member Dutra suggested we make teams some other way other than using a draft system. Committee Member Berman said if you have a weaker team one year with mostly 5t'graders, the following year you will have mostly 6t'graders and a stronger team. Teams are never going to be equal. Committee Member Tillison asked if there is anything other than a draft that can be used to form teams. Committee Member Dutra said we can do evaluations and placement but he didn't think the parents would like that system. Superintendent Bertolacci said at the play-offs', some of the players didn't show up for the games. Superintendent Bertolacci said this is the second year we had players return to the same team. Committee Member Carbone said the 11-12 year olds had their try-outs last week. 21`t Century did the ratings and Kyle went by their ratings of the players. We have 11 players, 2 alternates and 3 players were cut. Superintendent Bertolacci said we have one alternate now because the other alternate dropped off. We dress 11 and we play 11 and whoever is dressed has to play 6 outs and bat once. If you take more players on the roster they have less playing time. Committee Member Tillison asked if there was any feedback regarding the Minors Little League. Committee Member Dutra said he heard only positive feedback except for the pitching machine. Superintendent Bertolacci said we need to get a new generator because the machine kept breaking down. Superintendent Bertolacci said he would work on some pitching clinics maybe during the fall. Chairman Schutzer asked how the Little League Softball program went. Superintendent Bertolacci said the Major League Softball play-offs are tonight. Two teams are in the championship. There is a 9/10 and 11/12 softball team in the District Tournament. 1168377.1 b. Birthday Celebration: The Rye Brook Birthday celebration is this Saturday, June 14th. The hours are 12:OOpm to 4:OOpm.
